Introduction to 'Crank' Clay
CRANK Clay is ideal for hand builders and sculptors seeking a strong, highly workable material with character. ES50 Standard Crank is an open-textured, coarsely grogged clay with excellent plasticity, making it perfect for outdoor pieces such as plant pots and sculptures, while also offering a rustic finish for tableware. In this workshop, you will explore forming techniques suited to crank clay and learn how to make the most of its unique qualities.
A dedicated crank firing takes place once per term for those wishing to continue using this clay in the studio; booking is required, and clay use and firing will be charged in addition to the standard open access session fee.
