ART AND GAMES SESSIONS: Weekly Autumn - Winter 2026/27
These art workshops invites participants of all ages to imagine, design, and create their own tools and equipment for playing Games. You can explore painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and simple sculptural techniques, discovering how games can be both functional objects and works of art.
Including fabricating bespoke playing pieces using ceramic, plasticine, and bioplastic. Developing a deck of personalised playing cards, designing suits, characters, and imagery that reflect their own stories, interests, and shared humour.
Classic tactile games such as tiddlywinks and jacks or knucklebones are reimagined through handmade components.
Chess is explored in depth, with participants designing and constructing their own boards and sculpting unique chess pieces that challenge traditional representations.
Another possibility is to create locally inspired Hayling Island Monopoly board with opportunities to map neighbourhoods, landmarks, and memories, blending play with a sense of place and community.
By the end of these sessions participants will leave with a rich collection of handcrafted games and a shared experience that celebrates making, storytelling, and the joy of playing together.
